Jesus is the King of Kings. This design has a crown of thorns done in gold foil and the nails incorporated into the font of the king of kings in red ink, representing his blood shed for our sins. The crown of thorns was used to mock Jesus. He wasn't the messiah the Jews expected. Jesus came not to rule like an earthly king but to serve the people he loves. He was a king who willingly surrendered his life because he is a king who truly loves us. He saved us by paying the price of sin for us. Jesus was the only man who could defeat death because he was also fully God. He paved the way for us to be in a relationship with him for eternity. He was a suffering servant on earth, now resurrected reining over all. 
 
Matthew 27:29 "They twisted together a crown of thorns, put it on his head, and placed a staff in his right hand. And they knelt down before him and mocked him: “Hail, king of the Jews!"
 
Revelation 1:5 "and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has set us free from our sins by his blood,"
 
Revelation 17:14 “These will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will conquer them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings. Those with him are called, chosen, and faithful.”
